Okay so I'm not an experienced cook by any means... One of my best high school friends will tell you about the time I ruined a box mix of muffins because I didn't know that olive oil had a taste (it doesn't go well with lemon poppy seed to say the least). But, I've had free time, so I've tried a few things and they went surprisingly well.

First: I made homemade snickerdoodles and they were so so good. Soren's mom works in healthcare and has been working nonstop to make sure that the Coronavirus does not spread like wildfire in central Maine. So, I decided to make her favorite cookies. I had never made snickerdoodles from scratch and let me start by saying, they took way more than the 20 min prep time that the recipe said, however, it was worth it. I will not try and say I came up with the recipe on my own, here it is.

Second: We made lo mein. I personally love lo mein but I've only had the Chinese takeout version and I was worried that it'd be hard to make. I had been the sous-chef for the past couple of nights so I decided that I would make the lo mein as long as Soren prepared the chicken... raw chicken freaks me out. Again, I tried to follow a recipe but this one I messed up, luckily it did not affect the food. Also, the recipe called for thin spaghetti noodles but we bought bucatini. A thick noodle that has a hole in the middle, the pasta version of a pool noodle. I personally am glad that we used that kind, it allowed the sauce to get in and made them more flavorful. Soren's grandmother recommended this recipe and I highly suggest you try it, it was super easy and tasty. We used chicken instead of beef but I'm sure you could also use pork or chicken and it'd be yummy regardless.

Third: I noticed that there were some browning bananas in the kitchen and no one wanted to eat them so I made banana bread. I love good banana bread and it's so easy to make. I ended up making muffins because I couldn't find a bread pan but it's essentially the same thing. This recipe was so simple, only a few ingredients were needed. The muffins turned out moist and it made exactly twelve. If I were to make it again I'd probably add a dash of cinnamon and some mini dark chocolate chips.
